Description

Norgas NGRB Gas Pressure Regulator

Take control of your industrial gas systems with the NGRB Gas Pressure Regulator (models NGRB2 & NGRB3), engineered for demanding line regulation applications using natural gas, LPG, and other non-corrosive dry gases. Designed for high, medium, and low-pressure systems, the NGRB provides stable outlet pressures from 7″ WC to 21.4 psig while minimizing nuisance shutdowns with its built-in internal token relief.

Norgas Regulator Sizing Tool

To ensure your NGRB Gas Pressure Regulator meets your system’s requirements, use the Norgas Regulator Sizing Tool. This intuitive tool allows you to enter:

  1. Gas Type – natural gas, LPG, or other non-corrosive dry gases
  2. Inlet Pressure – the upstream pressure entering your regulator
  3. Desired Outlet Pressure – the pressure you need downstream
  4. Flow / System Capacity – the required gas flow rate for your application
  5. Pipe Connection Size – to match your system piping

Based on your inputs, the tool provides recommendations for the appropriate NGRB model, spring option, and expected flow capacity.

Important: This tool provides guidance only. All selections should be confirmed by Process Valve & Equipment Co. or Norgas technical support to ensure proper safety and optimal performance.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Stable Downstream Pressure: Maintains consistent outlet pressure even with fluctuating inlet conditions, supporting reliable industrial operations.

  • Line Regulator Design: Engineered for industrial gas lines rather than single-appliance use.

  • Internal Token Relief: Gradually vents occasional pressure spikes, preventing nuisance trips of overpressure devices.

  • Corrosion-Resistant Construction: Carbon steel housing and ductile iron valve body ensure long-term durability.

  • Field-Interchangeable Springs: Easily reconfigure outlet pressure ranges in the field without replacing the regulator assembly.

  • Balanced Valve Design: Minimizes lock-up while handling higher inlet pressures.

  • Easy Maintenance: Top-entry design allows inspections and repairs without removing the regulator from the line.

  • Versatile Installation: Can be mounted in multiple orientations while maintaining performance (follow vent and sensing line requirements).

Sensing Line Requirement

The NGRB requires a downstream sensing line (≥3/8″ diameter, not included) to operate correctly. It must be installed at least 5× the nominal pipe diameter downstream of the regulator and away from turbulence (elbows, valves, or other equipment). Use a needle valve to fine-tune response after commissioning.

Only qualified personnel should install the regulator and sensing line per Norgas instructions.

Applications for NGRB Gas Pressure Regulator

  • Industrial Gas Distribution: Ideal for heavy-duty line regulation in plants, processing facilities, or utility systems.

  • Process Control: Integrates with industrial valves and control systems for precise pressure regulation.

  • Utility & Pipeline Systems: Supports high-capacity gas flow while maintaining downstream stability.

Built-In Relief & Balanced Valve Features

  • Built-in Partial Relief Valve: Gradually releases occasional outlet pressure spikes into the atmosphere, preventing overpressure shut-off valves from triggering due to sudden flow or temperature changes.

  • Internal Balanced Valve & Top-Entry Design: Ensures low lock-up even with significant inlet pressure variations. The top-entry design allows repairs and inspections without removing the regulator from the line, minimizing downtime.

Vent and Relief Guidance

The NGRB’s built-in partial relief vent safely releases occasional outlet pressure spikes. Because this vent opens to the atmosphere:

  • Outdoor Installations: Vent should not face upward or into debris or moisture.

  • Indoor Installations: Follow applicable local and national codes (e.g., NFPA 54 / IFGC) for vent piping or a certified vent-limiting device as required.

Note: For most typical outdoor industrial line regulator applications, a separate vent limiter is not required.
