We always size gas meters based on the maximum flow rate, not the line size. Furthermore, you'll need to accommodate your line size to match the gas meter flanges. Here's the good news: there's no straight pipe requirements. Additionally, if you don't know what your flow rate is, check your burner boiler plate for a MAX BTU RATING.

2. Consider Operating Pressure

Dresser Roots meters can handle various pressure levels, but ensuring compatibility with your system prevents inaccuracies and inefficiencies. Standard pressures range between 1 PSI up to 175 PSI. Higher pressures will change the model to 232, 300, 740, and finally 1480.
